Bathrooms, Books, and Good Spellers
When Peepy (pronounced Peep-ee) and I were at the Century City mall recently, we were tres impressed by the bathrooms. Why? Because of this . . .

The stalls were "sponsored" by Charmin. Inside were uber-realistic photos to make you think (sort of) that you were in a very nice bathroom in Martha Stewart's house.

Speaking of bathrooms, is this a new publishing trend? A Japanese company is printing stories on TOILET PAPER. I guess if you hate the story, you can just use to, um, you know. To find out more, CLICK HERE

(I couldn't find a photo of the scary toilet paper story, so here's sudoku toilet paper instead.)

More publishing news, this time from rapper Kanye West: "Sometimes people write novels and they just be so wordy and so self-absorbed," West said. "I am not a fan of books. I would never want a book's autograph."

And yet, he's written a (very short) book. To read this audacious story titled "Proud Non-Reader Kayne West Turns Author," CLICK HERE. Your thoughts?

And finally, here are some people who I think are amazing . . . kids who can spell!! Don't forget to watch the National S-P-E-L-L-I-N-G B-E-E this week. For more information, CLUCK HERE. (I spelled click wrong on porpoise.)

My favorite Kanye quote: "I feel like to misuse, overuse or abuse someone is negative. To use is necessary and if you can't be used, then you are useless." I also love how some of the 52 pages are "blank." I think probably, he just should have penned a philosophy rap song :-)

Sadly, this is the attitude many celebrity authors have when penning books. They are not readers but the money is there. I'm amused that it's a 52-page book and many of the pages are blank, but still he needed a co-author.

Well, if you only have a limited # of words of wisdom, someone has to decide which pages get them.

I actually have a Kanye reference in my third book and SO want to take it out. That, or insult the guy.

oh man, Kayne never stops surprising me. Him calling other people self absorbed is very amusing to me.

"I would never want a book's autograph" is locution that would make George Bush proud. Can a book autograph? Or would that be an AUTHOR? Moron.

Too bad they didn't print Kanye's book on the TP.

Hooray for the Spelling Bee! Making nerds cool. :>)

Say, aren't you a first class speller yourself, Lisa, appearing on stage and singing and dancing your way through a Broadway Spell-a-thon?

I spend all day editing puzzle magazines and occasionally have these crazy dreams in which I'm trying to fit everything in life into some kind of puzzle. I think if I saw that sudoku tp in a bathroom, I might just run out screaming!!!

...and not too many blank pages.

*sigh* Don't even get me started on public figure "authors" and West's idea of wisdom.

On the other hand, the bathroom is very cool (I'm a connoisseur of bathrooms), and thank you to you and your commenter for the scary toilet paper story! Fun stuff!

Have you seen the movie SPELLBOUND, about a group of kids who were preparing for one year's National Spelling Bee? http://www.spellboundmovie.com/
